MOT Test Changes

What does MOT testing involve?

If you have always wondered what exactly is covered during an MOT test you should take a look at our MOT Checklist. As you would expect we carry out a range of; interior checks, exterior checks, under the bonnet checks, under the vehicle checks as well as electronic to ensure your car meets minimum safety requirements.

What if my car fails its MOT?

If your car fails its MOT then we can carry out the repairs required to help it pass an MOT retest.

Important Information

An MOT Certificate relates only to the condition of testable items at the time of the test. It should not be regarded as evidence of the condition of the items tested at any other time nor should it be taken as evidence of the general mechanical condition of the vehicle.

It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is examined every 12 months. Without a current MOT certificate, you will be unable to drive your vehicle lawfully or renew your road tax. Recent computerisation of the MoT testing system by VOSA means police and mobile camera units can now check remotely to see if your vehicle has a current MOT.

The penalty for not having an up to date MOT certificate could be a fine. Also if the vehicle is involved in an accident you may be asked to produce your MOT certificate. An insurance claim could be affected by the absence of your MOT, especially in the case of injury. For more information regarding MOT’s please click here to access the Direct.gov website
